You need 2 days to experience the whole park if you want to see both the craters (north) and Badwater Basin (South), especially if you want to do any hiking. We walked through the sand dunes, then went north to walk around the rim of the craters. The parking lot is by the big crater, but there is also a small crater. Begin your walk to the left to go around clockwise. when you get 3/4th around, you will have an amazing view of the small crater. It is windy but worth it. We ended our day with a hike in Golden Canyon. We stayed over night at the Death Valley Ranch. It is far to go in and out of the park, so unless you are camping, this is your best option. The next morning we drove down to BadWater Basin, then made several stops on our way back north. 1st stop hike to the natural Bridge. Next stop Artist Palette Road. This is a very fun road to drive. well designed for your viewing pleasure. Many stops along the way. A nice hike through the colors. Next stop Desolation Canyon. This was the longest hike we did. You have to scramble up a few walls. No ropes, no ladders, but I'm 61 years old and was able to do it. Last stop, the visitors center. Stay as long as you want, but I advise you to be out and over the pass before dark. We went as far as Bakersfield and then the next morning headed to Sequoia National Park. We brought all our own food with us in a cooler for the 2 days in Death Valley. I highly recommend. Especially if you are vegetarian/vegan!

A Cal-Trans worker cut a major cable line at 4:30 pm causing electricity to go out in the ENTIRE area. That was NOT the property’s fault! They did their best to help their guests! An electrical Crew was summoned from LA a six hour trip away. We chose to leave due to medical issues and our money was refunded. We were grateful for their empathy! The beauty of the region is a must see!

Very nice place for hiking, we were lucky to do it in january, when its not too hot yet. Badwater lake was nice. There are a few accommodations in the park, but its comfortable to stay close. The trails were beautiful, keep watching the signs not to get lost😀

    Death Valley is beautiful!

Death Valley is beautiful! We were there in November 2023 and it was still quite warm so I STRONGLY recommend not going in the summer, as the temperatures can be very high. Regardless, always carry lots of water with you! There is little to no cell reception anywhere in the valley so plan ahead with navigation. The visitor's center is very helpful though with providing maps and up to date information on closures. And roads are clearly signed. Sights to see: - Badwater basin - Dante's view - Artist's drive - Devil's golf course - Zabriskie point - Mesquite flat sand dunes Sights we missed due to closures but we do recommend (you need a full day for these two as it is quite a drive on unpaved roads): - Racetrack playa - Ubehebe crater Be aware that if you stay in one of the two hotels in Death Valley (The Ranch at Death Valley or The Inn at Death Valley), you will pay a huge increase on food, water, and gas. If we were to visit again, we would stay outside of the valley and drive in, purely so we wouldn't have to stay at one of the hotels and pay extortionate prices for poor service.

Welcome sight at the end of a long but fantastic journey.

Welcome sight at the end of a long but fantastic journey. There was a problem with the water when we arrived but that was soon sorted and everything went well. Yes the restaurant is very expensive but the portions reflect a higher cost, in my opinion. Only negative is that there is no lift and as we were on the second floor we had to carry our heavy bags up a set of stairs.

A unique park to visit at least once.

A unique park to visit at least once. The major attractions are great but visit the lessor known attractions as they are just as spectacular and most offer a view of the major attractions from a a a different angle. Getting to/from the park can be a challenge due to the remoteness but the scenery along the way is great compensation. Also a challenge is food. Variety and availability is very limited from the on-location resorts . Whatever dining options are available will be mediocre and very expensive. For consideration in staying in the Ranch or the Inn, “think camping” where you bring your own food and even a microwave (which are not provided in the rooms). What’s not to like, the heat of course. Good luck.
